Hi, I’m Leigh, and I have been working as part of Hellings Brothers for 33 years. Apparently, I told my parents I wanted to be a roofer when I was seven or eight. At the tender age of three, they had found me up on a scaffold we had on our house. I’d disappeared and, after a frantic search, they discovered me two storeys up! Don’t tell social services. Clearly, I’ve never minded heights (unless it’s windy).
I love being able to help people, whether that be fixing leaks, chimneys, or just general maintenance of their roof. These things can be so stressful, but I find it very rewarding to be able to alleviate that stress from our customers.
I also love working with my brothers and nephew. Many people have work politics and face difficult people day to day in their careers. But I love going to work, and knowing I have people at work who care about me and have my back.

Hi, I’m Glen, and I have been working as a part of Hellings Brothers for 33 years. Growing up, I don’t think I thought much about what job I’d like to do. My Dad (Tom Hellings) had learnt his trade as a roofer with the council and became self-employed, which meant more flexible working hours, allowing him to be a very present father. This made for a wonderful childhood for me and my three brothers. I think this is what first drew me to roofing as a career.
I really enjoy being able to work with my family. I get huge satisfaction from fixing roofs and working with my hands. I also love being able to work outside, especially in the Spring and Autumn.

Hi, I'm Sam and I have worked as a part of Hellings Brothers for 24 years.
I left school at the age of 16 and started an apprenticeship with my older brothers, Leigh and Glen. After a few years learning the trade, I became a Partner in Hellings Brothers.
I have always enjoyed being hands-on; it’s very satisfying to diagnose a leak and take a section or detail of the roof apart, fix a leak and put it back together, knowing that the customer is very grateful for keeping them dry.
I enjoy working alongside my brothers. We make a great team, we have each other's backs, and we trust each other completely. It’s rare for people to say they love their job, but I really do.

Hi, I'm Will, and I have worked with Hellings Brothers for 2.5 years as an apprentice. I’ve always wanted to be a roofer because I like the idea of working with family, doing hands-on work, and working outside.
